About the NAD

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) was established in 1880 by
deaf leaders who believed in the right of the American deaf community to
use sign language, to congregate on issues important to them, and to
have its interests represented at the national level. These beliefs
remain true to this day, with American Sign Language as a core value. As
a nonprofit federation, the mission of the NAD is to preserve, protect,
and promote the civil, human, and linguistic rights of deaf Americans.
The advocacy scope of the NAD is broad, covering the breadth of a
lifetime and impacting future generations in the areas of early
intervention, education, employment, health care, technology,
telecommunications, youth leadership, and more. For more information,

CDI, EIPA, NIC, Oh My!
October 05, 2008

Thinking about that certification test that you've always wanted or really need to take? Are you prepared? Beginning mid-August, Signs of Development will hold study groups for those wishing to prepare for the CDI Written, EIPA or NIC Written and Performance certification exams. Here's how they work:

Each study group runs approximately 16 weeks (1.5 to 2 weeks per unit). Participants are provided with a set of questions for each unit that will be researched, answered, and discussed. Content for each unit scaffolds and builds upon previous units. The content has been carefully developed to ensure that participants acquire all of the necessary information, experience, and practice to prepare for certification! As members of a study group, where the value of the group process is determined by the quality and quantity of the discussion, the learning is developed from the members’ experience and knowledge. Each group is guided by a Mentor Facilitator who provides guidance and ensures that the content is being discussed in ways that are effective and efficient! Signs’ Team takes your certification very seriously and passionately – it is their mission to ensure the growth of the profession and the professionals!

To participate in the study groups, you do NOT need:

* A webcam
* To attend a class
* To sign in at any specific day or time

CEUs or a certificate of completion can be obtained for participating. Please go to http://www.signs-of-development.org/website/customers.htm#Generalist to read just a few of the many comments we receive about our Study Groups from past participants. We look forward to working with you toward all of your certification and professional development goals!
