ASL Services Live on TV!
October 25, 2006
*Hispanic Information and Telecommunication Network* (HITN) partnered with *ASL
Services, Inc*. and *Hands On Video Relay Services* (HOVRS) to broadcast a
live one-hour program that took place on Wednesday, October 18, 2006
via *Dialogo
de Costa a Costa*, a Public Affairs daily program hosted by New York City's
media personality, Malín Falú.
The program featured three Deaf Hispanic guests:
Mr. Mark Morales (International Acclaimed Storyteller)
Dr. Angel Ramos (Superintendent of Sequoia School for the Deaf and Hard of
Hearing)
Ms. Carla Garcia (Multicultural Specialist, New Mexico School for the Deaf).
The show gave the audience an opportunity to examine a plethora of issues
that Deaf Hispanics face on a daily basis. The show permitted viewers to
call via HOVRS en Espanol to ask questions during its one hour live
broadcast.
HITN-TV remains the first and only media conduit offering educational,
enriching and empowering content to our nation's fastest growing ethnic
group.
Kudos to ASL Services, Inc. and HOVRS en Espanol Interpreters to make this
show possible and accessible to the mainstreamed audience.
