NIC Certification test STUDY GROUP

Staff appreciation day

ASL Services took everyone out to Garibaldi’s for Lunch to thank everyone for their hard work.

ADA workshop with Robert Mather

Deaf Senior Attorney with the US Department of Justice – Civil Rights Division.

Members of both the deaf and hearing community were in attendance. Robert Mather discussed various topics in relation to the ADA laws, as well as answered questions from the community.

Surprise Baby Party for Gabby

Gabrielle walked into Pizza City to find fellow co-workers and other Pizza City Patrons congratulating her on her 3rd child due June 19th

Baby shower for our mommies to be – Christy, Vannessa, Emily, Gabrielle and Melanie
Emily was unable to attend – her doctor put her on bed rest the week before the party. Sandwiches and a cake were provided. Shonna made all the mom’s Diaper cakes – thank you to all who contributed!!!!!!!!!!

ASL Linguistics Online Spring 2007

Valencia Community College www.valenciacc.edu will be offering SPA 2611 Structure of ASL online this spring if any one needs it. We'll be using the 4th edition of Valli's Linguistics of ASL (with the Green Books HIGHLY recommended).

We should be offering either the Lit (after I tinker with it based on
the input from the current students) or Methods class in the summer,
possibly both.

DEAFEST

November 4th 2006

Took place at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. Jennifer Daniels and Justin Bruscino ran the exhibit table representing both ASL Services and CCDHH. There were a lot of wonderful activities including a performance from “The Aztec Man”.

FRID – Florida Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf

2006 FRID state conference in Daytona Beach Oct 12 - 15, 2006

American Sign Language Services had a table at this years FRID state conference in Daytona Beach, and were also the conferences Badge sponsor.

]]> Gabrielle, Vannessa, Katie, Justin, Jennifer and Kerry Ann ran the Exhibit table.

As with past events, the wheel was a big hit. A number of people hit bonus, but with ASL Services, everyone is a winner - numerous pens, first aid kits, and message boards were won.

There were many workshops including ones about the new NIC test, and a CDI workshop.

Vannessa bought raffle tickets to win an ipod nano, but someone snatched them. The only way for her to get them back was by putting her hair in clips.

PRHOVRS Opening

ASL Services/ASL Services Latino welcomed a new addition to the ASL/HOVRS family – PRHOVRS.

The opening of the new PRHOVRS took place simultaneously here and in Puerto Rico. VRS interpreters here in Kissimmee were treated to a beautiful setup, delicious ethnic food, and cake. Flowers and decorations were provided by the Butler family.
